LLL of Jefferson serves the local community through monthly meetings, telephone helping and mother-to-mother support. We invite all women interested in breastfeeding to attend our free meetings or call our Leaders for breastfeeding help.

Whether you are pregnant and planning to breastfeed, are learning to nurse your newborn or are experiencing breastfeeding challenges, LLL meetings are a wonderful place to learn from other nursing mothers. At these monthly meetings, mothers share not only their questions and concerns but also the benefits and joys of breastfeeding. Babies are expected to attend; children of all ages are welcome!


Meeting Information

We have three meetings each month. A library of childbirth, breastfeeding and parenting books is available at all meetings.

Eastbank Morning Meeting: We meet on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 am to 11 am in the 1st Floor Dreyfous Room of East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. Please bring a healthy drink or snack to share. Spring 2008 meeting dates: January 15, February 19, March 18, April 15.

Westbank Morning Meeting: We meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 am to 11 am at the Ochsner Westbank Cypress Room. Spring 2008 meeting dates: January 2, February 6, March 5, April 2.

Evening Meeting: We meet on the third Wednesday of each month from 7 pm to 8 pm in Room 3313 at the Family Birthplace at West Jefferson Medical Center.

Leader Information

Leaders are experienced breastfeeding mothers who have completed an accreditation program and are familiar with breastfeeding management techniques as well as current research. Baby Fair
Saturday, August 2nd

We will set up a display of breastfeeding information and hand out bags of pamphlets to everyone in the mall.  We will invite other medical professionals to join us with their own tables. This is the perfect event to invite your friends to!

Our Short Talks were so popular last year that we have expanded them to make them the focus of our event.  Each session will be 30 minutes long and there will be a choice of sessions to attend.  We plan to include many different topics concerning pregnancy and parenthood.  Please send us your ideas for topics and speakers.  We want the entire family to attend, so there will be fun activities for the children including arts and crafts, balloon animals and GymRompers music and puppets.  Whole Foods will again be providing us with healthy snacks and drinks.  Rachelle is busy collecting donations from local and national businesses for our Door Prizes and Live Auction! 


Support LLL of Jefferson

Our Group is staffed entirely by volunteers, and we rely on donations, memberships and fundraisers to continue providing services to the community. A variety of items are available for purchase online in our LLL of Jefferson webstore, and we also offer items for sale at our monthly meetings.

A newsletter is mailed out three times a year with a schedule of meetings and articles on breastfeeding topics.  To add your name to the mailing list, send your address to Marny at marnoca@cox.net
